Week three Daniel Trapani Peace-building Model
Now having it be week three here in Erfurt the social conflict i have encountered is how tough it really is to communicate especially at the smaller local stores. regarding the peace building method , the peace building method is described as "urgency and possibility of curtailing the various forms of intercultural violence all too prevalent to the world today"(Remland, Jones, Foeman & Arevalo,2015) as a group we encountered a very awkward situation on the train going into town that i feel can accurately describe all the steps of the Peace-building model. the first step of the process is cultural identity, and that is we as a group assumed that being able to talk at a moderate level on the train was acceptable because some of us growing near major cities used their train systems and everybody is talking all the time. however in Erfurt we came to find out that is quite the opposite. The next step of the theory is the intercultural interactions, so as we are riding the train all talking amongst ourselves and a woman who was around us poked Taylor and gave her a rude shush, thus giving us the indication that we were either too loud or were not even supposed to be talking in the first place. This shows this step because they assumed that we would be respectful on the train as we are guests in their city and we were quite the opposite. Moving onto the third step of the peace building method , intercultural communities, that is when groups of people learn to interact together to keep the peace, so finally the story concludes where we all now are well aware of the do's and dont's of the train and keep our mouths shut to avoid any more conflict. Its interesting reading the textbook learning about all these different theories because now i am starting to have stories that can help me learn these theories compared to just learning them in a classroom setting.
