Hi, I'm Hailey!

Hey There! My name is Hailey! I am going into my Junior Year at WVU. My major is Communications with an emphasis in Social Media. I am also working towards completing two minors, Advertising and Public Relations. West Virginia has definitely become my home these past two years; but I am ready to make Erfurt my new home for the next 9 weeks. I am no stranger to making Europe my home. In Summer 2014 and Summer 2016, I lived with a friend and her aunt for a month in Kaiserslautern, Germany. During these trips, I made my way to Berlin, Heidelberg, Meinz, Paris, Prague, and Sardinia. I am really hoping to hit many more countries such as Amsterdam, England, and Poland! One of my goals in life is to do as much traveling as I can, so I knew this trip was perfect for me to go on! I can’t wait to meet new people from all over the world and make everlasting memories! The pictures I have included in this post is from last summer when I traveled to Berlin, Paris, and Prague. ...

Sarah: About Me

Image
Hi Everyone! My name is Sarah and I am a WVU student in SPICE 2017.  This program includes the last two classes I need to complete my degree- I am earning my Master of Arts in Communication Research and Theory, to be completed this July.  My research interests lie in health, organizational, interpersonal, and family communication contexts, and I am interested to see how our intercultural communication course will apply to my academic background. This will not be my first international trip- in 2015 I completed a study abroad program in London, and in 2016 I visited Ireland with some friends as a graduation present to ourselves.  London was absolutely amazing.  We saw Bradley Cooper perform in Elephant Man;  climbed over 500 steps to get to the top of St. Paul's Cathedral; straddled the Prime Meridian in Greenwich (see picture below); and went on the Harry Potter Warner Bro. Studio Tour where I got to see the amazing sets, props, and costumes used in making ...

SPICE 2017 Arrival Information [Adapted from directions by Dr. Nick Bowman]    Leaving the US You should all have electronic copies of your train tickets with the flight numbers and airlines listed. You'll want to compare these, as many of you will be flying on the same jets. You'll also need to contact your airline in advance to select seats, check baggage fees, and other travel-related information (you can do this online, with the reservation numbers in your e-mail). You'll also need to arrange your own transportation to your airports of choice, and for international flights I would plan on being at the airport a minimum of two hours prior to departure.  Arriving in Germany As you can see from the flight schedules, you'll be arriving around 7:30 am - so long as there's no delays. Dr. Dykstra (Singapore Airlines) arrives at 10:40 and Dr. Cohen (Delta) arrives at 8:50. Everyone arrives on Monday June 12. When you get to the airport (map below), your...
