Sarah: About Me

Hi Everyone!

My name is Sarah and I am a WVU student in SPICE 2017.  This program includes the last two classes I need to complete my degree- I am earning my Master of Arts in Communication Research and Theory, to be completed this July.  My research interests lie in health, organizational, interpersonal, and family communication contexts, and I am interested to see how our intercultural communication course will apply to my academic background.

This will not be my first international trip- in 2015 I completed a study abroad program in London, and in 2016 I visited Ireland with some friends as a graduation present to ourselves.  London was absolutely amazing.  We saw Bradley Cooper perform in Elephant Man; climbed over 500 steps to get to the top of St. Paul's Cathedral; straddled the Prime Meridian in Greenwich (see picture below); and went on the Harry Potter Warner Bro. Studio Tour where I got to see the amazing sets, props, and costumes used in making the movies for my all-time favorite book series.  Ireland was also a memorable trip as we toured the Guinness Factory, kissed the Blarney Stone, went on a boat tour to see Ireland's natural fjords, and visited the world-famous Library in Trinity College, Dublin.

After exploring those parts of the world, I am ready to see more! I am looking forward to our trips to Bruges and Berlin.  The Chocolate Museum in Bruges has been on my bucket list for years, as well as seeing the remains of the Berlin Wall.  Hopefully I will have time to visit Paris, Barcelona, and Rome in between readings and research projects.  If anyone has recommendations for museums, tours, or food/drink in any of the places mentioned above, please comment below! Can't wait for this journey to begin.
